I wrote this two weeks ago and thought I had posted it. Apparently not. It’s delightful to see how my tech skills are still lacking, even after the amount of use they’ve gotten in the past year and a half…

I teach just outside of Washington, D.C. My county is huge and it is quite wealthy. Our wealth, however, pales in comparison with the county just to our west. Yesterday, within minutes of each other, I read a Washington Post article and a twitter thread about separate events in that district.

The twitter thread is about a school board meeting during which many people protested the teaching of Critical Race Theory in the schools (just in case you aren’t sure already, Critical Race Theory isn’t being taught in K-12 schools – although I would likely support it doing so).

The Washington Post article is about a teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave for refusing to honor a child’s request to use a chosen name and pronouns.

As Shana V. White might say, what do you notice, what do you wonder?

Honestly, I don’t know what else to say.
