Reading in Comfort

I take a lot of pictures in my classroom because I have a class blog to share with families. I’ve been doing that since the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year (which is longer than I would have guessed). In those years I’ve gathered quite a collection of pictures of first graders, kindergartners, and third graders at work and play. And sometimes I just need to enjoy the pictures. These few were taken last week. Between reading groups I noticed the kids on the couch looking so comfy as they read so I quietly got up and took photos of others in the room reading. I love seeing where they settle for their reading time (and their writing time and their math time and whatever else we do). They find spots that work for them. Sometimes it looks super comfy to me, like the kids on the couch. Other times it seems like it would be quite uncomfortable (to me, anyway) but seems to work for them!
